The Private Post Secondary and Vocational Education Reform Act (ACT) became inoperative June 30, 2007 and has reopened in 2010. From 2007 to 2010, there was no regulatory body with oversight of Private Post Secondary schools. Bakersfield Spa Institute opened in 2009, operating and meeting the standards provided prior to the sun-setting of the regulatory body. Bakersfield Spa Institute is not a state approved school at this time because the State of California has not reviewed their application.
This institution’s application for approval to operate has not yet been reviewed by the Bureau for Post Secondary Education.

The Massage School Program:
1. Submit application for enrollment into school
(this starts with an appointment with the school director, so call now)
2. Start learning in as few as 1 week from now
3. Choose which class you wish to attend
* Part Time 4 hours per day---16.5 Months (includes working for school)
* Full Time 8 hours per day --8 Months
* Intensive Learning 12 hours per day--5.5 Months
(8:45 am to 12:45pm Monday thru Saturday)
(1:15 pm to 5:15pm Monday thru Saturday)
(6:00 pm to 10 pm Monday thru Saturday)
4. Study in our Lecture & Practice Classroom with other students and therapists
until you have learned how to give a 1 hour professional massage
5. Graduate to our Internship Program working on real clients in our Spa
(Internship schedules are different than Class room schedules)
6. Return to Lecture Classroom to learn advance techniques
7. Pass written and hands on final exam
8. Graduate to a new career!
Student Qualifications:
* 18 years of age or older
* California Identification card or drivers license that is not expired
* no criminal history record with sexual offenses
* able to attend classes regularly
* able to understand and read some english
Not Required:
* no credit check or income needed
* no ged or high school diploma
